We are super excited to attending The Running Event this week!
What is The Running Event? Once a year, the global running industry meets at The Running Event® (therunningevent.com) to learn what's new in the sport. This 12-year-old conference and trade show returns to the Austin Convention Center, after being in Orlando Florida for one year. The Running Event, organized by B2B publisher and trade show producer Formula4 Media, Great Neck, N.Y., will attract 2,700 industry professionals, including 850+ specialty retail executives and race directors, from throughout North America and parts of the world. The attraction? Over 250+ exhibitors including major shoe, apparel, accessory and sports technology brands, such as ASICS, Balega, Brooks, New Balance, Nike, On, and Saucony. The event is closed to the public, but media are invited to learn what's new for 2018.
We will be attending, meeting with brands to learn about what is new and improved for 2018 and we'll be keeping you updated along the way. Be looking for our product review blogs and posts later this week and next.
Did you know there were 17 million road race finishers in 2016. Females account for 9.7 million finishers nationwide and continue to represent 57% of runners? Yep, the ladies rule! Total number of U.S. running events reached 30,400, a slight increase from 30,300 in 2015, with the largest growth seen in the half-marathon distance (4%). The 25 to 44 year old age group continues to be the sweet spot for running, accounting for 49% of finishers. (Source: RunningUSA.org, 2016).
